Secondhand Shelties, Ltd., is a not-for-profit Chicago area breed rescue for Shetland Sheepdogs (“Shelties”). Formed and incorporated in the State of Illinois in 1995 and licensed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Secondhand Shelties helps find new homes for abandoned, orphaned, and unwanted shelties. All dogs in the care of Secondhand Shelties are checked by a veterinarian upon entry into the rescue program. Vaccinations, neutering, dental work, and any other needed medical procedures are done prior to adoption. Staff members of Arlington Park Veterinary Hospital are actively involved with the work of this group.
Second Chance Pet Adoption is a not-for-profit volunteer rescue and foster home organization focused primarily on cats and kittens. All Second Chance cats are checked by veterinarians, receive all necessary medical care, and are placed into foster homes until they are adopted. The foster homes provide the love, care, and attention these cats need to once again feel safe, secure, and accepting of their Second Chance for Love. Arlington Park Veterinary Hospital actively supports the work of Second Chance through the provision of veterinary services and hosting of adoption events.
